Collège (ages 11–15)
Collège (ages 11–15) is the time of the confirmation of knowledge, of the acquisition of methods of work, of the development of the person and of a good spirit.
The student is accompanied so as to give the best of himself and grow in autonomy.
In the same way as at the primary school of the Academy, the student receives a structured and solid formation in order to root once and for all the foundations of knowledge, going beyond the requirements of the common core of knowledge.
We therefore insist on:
- In French as in foreign languages, on the development of written and oral expression, and the work of memory through the learning of vocabulary and of poems.
- In mathematics, on the construction of reasoning, demonstration, learning theorems and properties by heart, and mental arithmetic.
- In history-geography, on the work of memory through the learning of dates and on the analysis of historical facts.
- In the scientific subjects, on the rigour of analysis and the precision of answers.
- On public speaking.
- On the sense of effort and the taste for the beautiful, the good and the true.
Sixième class
The 6e year is a year of acclimatisation to collège on an adapted timetable.
To complete Cycle 3 (CM1–6ᵉ) with confidence, support for our youngest boys is specific: the tutor begins each day with the class and guides each boy in his work.
He helps the boy especially in his organisation and guides him as much in the tidying of his things as in the keeping of the homework diary or in the carrying-out of his work.
Thus the passage from primary school to collège is a gentle one. Each student continues the study of English and Latin.
Cinquième class
The study of a second language completes the students’ formation: Spanish.
This teaching, given by native or highly experienced teachers, is strengthened by the regular following of films in the original version with subtitles, with notes taken on new vocabulary, and by times of conversation at table, regularly, in small groups of 4 to 5 students, among adults who speak the language fluently or older bilingual students.
Quatrième and Troisième classes
Putting in place personalised guidance and for the choices of the lycée: in order to prepare well the future of each student, we take time for self-knowledge and for guidance, drawing on the competence of our leadership team in this matter.
