Collège (ages 11–15)
The collège years are a time for consolidating knowledge, acquiring good working methods, and growing as a person with the right attitude.
Each student is supported so that he gives his best and grows in independence.
As in the Academy’s primary classes, the student receives a solid, structured education that firmly roots the basics and goes beyond the requirements of the national curriculum.
We therefore insist on:
- In French as in foreign languages, on the development of written and oral expression, and memory work through learning vocabulary and poems by heart.
- In mathematics, on the construction of reasoning, demonstration, learning theorems and properties by heart, and mental arithmetic.
- In history-geography, on memory work through learning dates, and on analysing historical events.
- In the scientific subjects, on the rigour of analysis and the precision of answers.
- On public speaking.
- On a sense of effort and a love of the beautiful, the good and the true.
Sixième class
The 6e year is a year of settling into collège, with an adapted timetable.
To complete Cycle 3 (CM1–6ᵉ) with confidence, support for our youngest boys is specific: the tutor begins each day with the class and guides each boy in his work.
He helps each boy get organised, from keeping his things tidy to keeping his homework diary and getting his work done.
The move from primary school to collège is therefore a gentle one. Each student continues the study of English and Latin.
Cinquième class
Students take up a second language: Spanish.
This teaching, given by native or highly experienced teachers, is reinforced by regularly watching subtitled films in the original language, noting new vocabulary, and by conversation at mealtimes in small groups of 4 or 5 students with adults who speak the language fluently or with older bilingual students.
Quatrième and Troisième classes
Personalised guidance begins, including for lycée choices: to prepare each student’s future well, we make time for self-knowledge and careers guidance, drawing on our leadership team’s expertise.
