Instrumental training
At the Académie Musicale de Liesse, each boy has a weekly lesson on an instrument of his choice from those offered by the school, as agreed by the class council or the admissions panel.
Where appropriate, his timetable also includes time set aside for practice. In some cases he may also continue lessons elsewhere at weekends.
The Academy tries to meet each boy’s instrumental needs and offers the following instrumental lessons:
- Piano
- Organ
- Violin and viola
- Cello
- Trumpet
- Guitars (classical, folk, electric, and bass)
- Flute
- Jazz drums
- Percussion
- Saxophone
- Accompaniment
- Oboe
- Keyboard harmony
- Improvisation

Auditions and diplomas
Instrumental work is showcased in lunchtime recitals and in more formal, assessed recitals. It may also be examined by an external jury at the end of each cycle.
Affiliated to the French Federation of Artistic Education (FFEA), the Academy is authorised to award diplomas recognised at national level.
Ensemble training
Certain selected students may join an instrumental orchestra.
The Academy also offers contemporary music and jazz groups, led by a teacher, for selected volunteer students.
