Rehearsal before the concert

Our visit and programme

The Académie Musicale de Liesse is a semi-professional ensemble specialising in sacred vocal and instrumental music, and it often travels a long way to sing in the churches and venues that welcome it. We therefore wish to be able to sing or play the entire musical programme of our concerts.
In churches, we perform only sacred music, with particular care for the sacred character of the place: no secular piece will be performed in the church. A programme will be sent to you about a month in advance. Our repertoire consists mainly of sacred polyphonic works and instrumental pieces.
We ask you to trust us fully with the choice of pieces, which will be sent to you about a month in advance. For our part, as soon as a date is set, we will fill in your agreement and send you a copy of our insurance certificate.

Singing outside after the concert

At the end of the concert, we usually invite the audience outside the church to hear a few secular songs. Please confirm whether this is possible:

Organs and piano

The Academy has an organ class: our student organists are qualified and used to playing both choir organs and gallery organs. It matters to our semi-professional choir to be able to perform its works with our own organists. Please tell us below what is available.

Position of the choir

The Academy usually has no preference and can stand wherever you wish, while remaining very respectful when singing near a tabernacle where the Blessed Sacrament is reserved.
Where can the choir (55 singers) stand?
If the Paul VI altar can be moved, do you allow us to move it respectfully (put back as soon as the concert ends)?

Operations

Is there a microphone to introduce the concert and the pieces (strongly recommended)?
A room for the belongings of the 55 singers?
Is this room heated?
A room available for dinner ~2h30 before the concert (e.g. around 5.30pm for an 8pm concert)?
Sale of our CDs during the interval and at the exit?
A table available for selling CDs?
Our concerts are generally free: do you agree to a retiring collection at the exit, for our benefit (transport, musicians, posters…)?

Publicising the concert

Can an announcement be made at the end of the Mass before the concert?

Poster distribution by Academy teams (shops, leaflets, magazines, radio…), entirely managed by the Academy?
Announcement in the parish newsletter?
Announcement on your website?

Sharing of costs

The host parish and/or organisation often covers the cost of transport (one coach for 30 to 70 musicians). In most cases, we cover the cost of publicity (posters, flyers, advertising…) and the artists' fees (singers, organists, instrumentalists…). We fund these two items through a retiring collection at the end of the concert, for our benefit.
Poster printing at your expense?
Contribution from your parish / organisation to transport costs?
Collection for the benefit of the Académie Musicale de Liesse?
A fee planned for the Academy?
By hosting us, the parish / association / venue undertakes not to take any collection or raise any money in the name of the Academy, nor to fund any service connected with its visit, without its explicit, written and prior agreement.
